walk
as a group
wherever you want
at any moment
in optimum con·sens·us
con·sens·us happens when there is a
multiway flux of agreement on at least a sensory level and this is
expressed into action.
there are no leaders, no followers, no set rules, only a continuous
awareness of each other's presence moving in time and space.
there is a state of being together that
can exceed rational
understanding and agree towards micro- / macro cosmic dimensions.
translated into this space and time. con·sens·us can approach this
state
every time again whenever and wherever it is performed.
the performers are invited to use their utmost sensitivity AND their
best sensibility to fully go for what the score can offer them.
con·sens·us is an ongoing project that
is realised by a growing collaborative network of independent people
who share individual ideas and presences related to this concept. in
the
past it has been performed in public spaces in Rotterdam and Arnhem in
the Netherlands, the New York City subway system, and places related to
work and 'forgotten' spaces in Düsseldorf, Germany.
each realisation is unique as are the manifestations that are part of
it.
acknowledgments:
the walking con·sens·us has been devised and developed by Thomas
Körtvélyessy
it draws heavily from
- improvisatory and contact-improvisation
techniques,
- Augusto Boal-methods
- the Kinetic Awareness™ work and choreography of Elaine Summers,
- and the concepts of 'ethical reformation' and 'responsible anarchy'
coined by Mary O"Donnell-Fulkerson,
of which the originator considers con·sens·us to be a part.
